He has a point, though. A manual existing in a vehicle doesn’t automatically make it better than an automatic. It has to be a good experience for it to be worth it.

It’s not even the first time he’s written about the benefits of high-performance automatic gearboxes. He even links to one of his previous articles, in the article that you are referencing.

I agree with everything he said. A manual doesnt make every car better. Reading some of the comments reminds me why I don’t go to Jalopnik often.

Honestly I totally agree with his article. Many autos and pretty much all DSGs can shift faster than any human possibly could, and far smoother. On a modern car with a DSG or autobox with paddles I really don’t get the point of a manual.

And really, it doens’t even have to be a high performance or modern car, your LeSabre for instance probably wouldn’t be any more fun with a manual, being that it was a car built for comfort, not agility.
